Our Story
Aiyana is a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP-BC) who has been working within the reproductive space for nearly 20 years. Her role as a midwife has spanned a decade with attendance of over 1,500 births during this time. In addition to this, she has supported many individuals along their reproductive healthcare journeys. Prior to founding The Village House, Aiyana was heavily involved in educational workshops and trainings, speaking engagements, supporting Black Maternal Health events and initiatives, and sharing with others the scope and perspective of midwifery. In 2022, The Village House was formed and Aiyana began providing midwifery care in the out of hospital/community based setting— her long term dream.
The granddaughter of a midwife, Aiyana hopes to carry on the legacy that has been gifted to her and continue to learn and preserve sacred traditions within the profession. She envisions a world where everyone has access to midwifery care without any barriers and that folks feel safe, seen, and heard.
As The Village House grows, the dream is to open a birth center in the Inland Empire that will offer care and resources to the surrounding community. We are currently taking steps to accomplish this dream. Subscribe to our newsletter to learn more about our programming, events, and these efforts!
